Before this day I questioned whether it was worth the 2 days of shoveling snow to make this jump happen. We arrived in France to meet up with Arthur and the Victors -- Daviet and De Le Rue and basically just went right into shoveling mode. These guys had a reputation for building big jumps and we're informally known as the "one-more-block" crew. I thought maybe they're messing with us, and really making a point to live up to their reputation. Turns out all that shoveling was needed and worth it by every measure. This is possibly the biggest jump I've ever shot, something that wasn't obvious when building, probably because we were in the clouds the whole time. According to Arthur, he'd never tried a backside rodeo before and figured this 100-foot-plus jump would be a great place to learn them. This turned out to be the shot of the day, and shot of the year for me. I still walked away with a little regret, wondering if I'd blown it by not finding and angle that would work for a vertical photo for a cover. Transworld didn't care, they ran it as a fold-out cover, one of two like it in it's 33 year history, and my favorite I ever shot.
