This was one of those spots that you catch a quick glimpse of from the helicopter and have no idea how big it is once you get on top of it. Problem is once you're on top there's no easy way to bail out of an ice waterfall. You get to the point of no return a lot quicker than a your average cliff drop because it's essentially ice. And there's always a greater risk of sluffing all of the snow off, again because it's ice. On a very rare sunny day at Eagle Pass Heli in Revelstoke this was spotted and just had to be investigated despite knowing full well all of the above mentioned. Luckily it was a manageable size with a decently steep, or rather not completely flat landing. I'd always wanted to shoot an ice waterfall, but had zero idea that I'd come home with that shot before we packed up in the morning. That's what makes snowboarding in place like Eagle Pass so awesome, they literally have every kind of terrain. And when you're with a rider like Bode, nothing is out his league.
