Whenever Mahaffey came to town, something good was going to go down. There wouldn't be any filler, for him to strap in meant it rose to his insanely high standards. I had been eyeing this roof gap for a bit with some other guys but no one seemed particularly interested. Nothing like that had been done, and while the set-up looked very doable, there was a lot of consequence and unknown variables. This location had a lot of different features, mostly rails, and I'm sure that's why we came here that day. I pointed out the roof gap to Mahaffey, who had just arrived the night before. Without any hesitation at all he was in. Frontside 180, I want to say first and only try and first roof gap ever in snowboarding in the winter of 2003. My only regret was not being able to find a way to shoot it vertical for a possible cover, but wide angle horizontal was the angle. Shot on Kodak TMAX 3200, so there is considerable grain in the best possible way.
