Breckenridge always had the best halfpipe in the US to shoot, especially in the early season when the light would graze the deck of pipe from the behind and make for great backlighting. These pipes were big, but before they turned into unapproachable 22 footers, they attracted a lot of riders with different degrees of tranny expertise. They were a great place to shoot, especially early season when there wasn't much action going on elsewhere. I was posted up in Breck for a few days without much of an agenda and Pat Moore came through the pipe at the end of the afternoon and we worked on getting this shot with the last rays of sun framed up behind his handplant. If you look on the deck, you can see various "snow sculptures" put there as markers for where he should hit. The sun moved quickly and we kept having to reposition down the wall. The light was almost gone when we finally got the one.
