When Scotty Wittlake brought us to this rail I thought maybe he was joking at first. There was nothing about this setup that looked possible and too many things that looked impossible to overcome. I think that's why he picked this spot. That and he really wanted to slide handrails and to be honest, this what most of them around his home of Lake Tahoe looked like. Well maybe not as long and narrow, but twisted up, uneven, splintered wood was common theme. At this point there weren't any mellower ones left. I want to say it was less than 5 tries. Brad Kremer shot 16mm film for Kingpin's BRAINSTORM (for which this shot would end up on the cover). Gigi Ruf stood near me and took photos of his own on what looked like it was his father's camera. I can't remember who else was there. I was in shock that he actually did it. Without much hesitation too. Just did it and it was on to the next. That was Scotty, a true working man's rider. There have been many emulators over the years, but there will never be any that come close to what he harnessed and brought to snowboarding at that moment in time. **for sale here is the photo, not the video or the magazine**
