Snowboarding on the outskirts of Yellowstone Park is in the middle of winter is a highlight reel experience. Cooke City is tiny town where you can ride your snowmobiles through the streets night and day and have access to the miles of Rocky Mountain backcountry perched over the plains that the buffalo roam. No easy task getting there, but once you're posted up you never want to leave. I've spent many trips to Cooke with Wille Yli Luoma who always finds himself in really sketchy situations. This classic method was actually very tame on his scale, and was in all likelihood just a warm up for the antics that followed later in the day.
